PCP Petition Update: Climate Justice Now
PCP asked and you responded. PCP send a huge thank you for supporting their Climate Justice Now petition.
"We are so excited that over 1200 people have signed this paper petition and posted it back to us in Homebush. The petition is addressed to the Australian Senate and calls for the Senate to urgently work for a just transition from coal and coal gas to renewable energy to ensure the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.
PCP is delighted that Senator Jenny McAllister, a NSW Senator and Deputy Opposition Whip with a strong public record on environmental issues, has invited us to present the petition to her at her office on April 3rd. Senator McAllister's support is greatly appreciated and we will share any government response with you in future newsletters"
Community Climate Petition
The Community Climate Petition is an initiative launched by Micah Australia working in collaboration with Caritas Australia, Uniting World, Franciscan Friars, CLRINSW, TEAR Fund, Common Grace, Catholic Earthcare, Australian Religious Response to Climate Change and the PCP.
We are working together on the one project. Our shared aim is to generate a series of powerful petitions across 150 electorates calling on the Australian Government to:
• take stronger action to reduce Australia’s emissions,
• make a faster transition to zero-net emissions, and to
• make more substantial support to communities affected by climate change.
We need to make our voices for climate justice heard
We invite our supporters to work within their local communities to gather signatures, on paper, for the giant Community Climate Petition.
